8/17: Indians at Royals

It’s the big battle for fourth tonight at Kauffman Stadium. The action will be on STO and WTAM.

INDIANS (49-69): CF Brantley, SS  Cabrera, RF Choo, DH Hafner, 3B Nix, LF Crowe, 1B LaPorta, 2B Donald, C Marson. RHP Jeanmar Gomez (3-0, 1.54).

ROYALS (49-69): CF Blanco, C Kendall, DH Butler, 1B Ka’aihue, 3B Betemit, LF Gordon, 2B Aviles, RF Maier, SS Betancourt. RHP Zack Greinke (7-11, 3.99).

Is Mike Chernoff going to be the assistant GM to Chris next season?

I was thinking what the depth chart would like next year …

C) Lou Marson
1B) Matt Laporta
ss)Asdrubal Cabrera
Lf) Grady Sizemore
Cf) Michael Brantley
Rf) Shin Soo-Choo
DH) Carlos Santana

I really like Trevor Crowe’s ability to hit doubles and his speed, i wonder if crowe COULD play third base?

Trevor Crowe’s speed will be available off the bench as the 4th outfielder.
Carlos Santana will catch. That opens up DH on your list for a better hitter than Lou Marson, who would be bumped by Santana. It will be interesting to see what they do with Marson next year, though. I’m guessing they’ll keep him as a back-up at least for the first part of the year so they can give Santana days off.
Carlos Carrasco seems to have gotten the memo, the one that says “hey, two guys who don’t have the raw stuff that you have got called up ahead of you for various reasons and are doing well, so step it up.” His splits from May to August are really interesting, and trending exactly in the right direction.

did anyone else see the poll where the majority of people voted for Huff as the 6th SP option? What are they thinking?!

This team cannot stage a come-from-behind victory. It’s so depressing to watch.

Huff won 11 games last year. 11 games! That’s great. He’s the next Cliff Lee. And he’s actually pitched better to date this year, last year on August 21st he had a 6.80 ERA. This year his ERA is 6.21. Progress!Every time I think they should just release Hafner, the guy comes alive and hits some HRs and doubles. Maybe they should play Hafner every other month. This year, he hit well in spring, then had a bad April. He had a very good May, then a terrible June, had a good couple weeks in July, then had a break and has been good so far … so, DH for next year: Travis Hafner, but he has to go on the DL after playing every 30 days to recover
