Does anyone think that this potentially season ending injury for Joe Nathan might mean a trade possibility for Kerry Wood? I know the Twins have a lot on the line this year with a new stadium opening, and their payroll swelling for a playoff run. They really need a closer, if they are going to make that push. And, as far as closers go with one year left on their contracts, that are currently on “non-contending” teams, Kerry Wood seems like a perfect fit.

I guess my theory is legit. AC just posted a write up. Pardon me while I go read it.

I actually don’t think the Twins would be interested in Wood. They have some other good young pitchers in their bullpen who can take over the closing gig, they’re not going to spend $10 million on Wood when they may already have better pitchers available in-house–they’d at least want to give their current guys a chance before breaking the bank on someone who’s as big of a question mark as what they already have.

Ragers, it is also a little true the other way around. Choo, Cabrera, and Valbuena have all come from the Mariners system. It isn’t a one-sided thing, anyway.

After moving to the Pacific Northwest (near lovely Wenatchee), it was really neighborly of the Tribe to move all their players out here as well. So now when Cleveland isn’t in town, I can comfortably root for the Seattle India… errr… Mariners.
