No Marte. AGAIN!

Meanwhile Gimenez is horrible for July and August.

Fire Wedge.

When they brought up Andy over Laporta, I was okay with it because I understand Marte can be a free agent at the end of the year so they need to make a decision. But if they aren’t going to play him 5 out of 7 games, they are just messing with him again, and then they will expect him to go out there and perform after sitting for two or three games. He needs to be in there, and he needs to get a good honest look.

He’s been in 5 of the 8 games they’ve played since he got called up. Judging from the pattern, he plays in 2 of every 3 games (he came up during the Angels series), which is what he did in the series against the Tigers and the Twins.
I would expect that to be the norm, particularly when we have night to day games like this weekend.
I’m not going to complain about his playing time. I will say, however, that I’d like to see him get a start here and there at third.

Gimenez has started 8 out of 9. Why does he get to start every game and Marte has to sit one out of 3?

Gimenez has options. Marte doesn’t. There isn’t any hurry on Gimenez.

Besides, Gimenez performance has been horrible. 463 OPS for July and August before today.

Because Gimenez plays three positions. It’s not a matter of “should we play Marte or Gimenez?” Most of the time, they’re in the line-up together.
At this point, I think it’s safe to assume they’re trying to decide what position is best for Gimenez, which is why he gets in so often.

Gimenez is starting when Marte is on the bench. That is the problem.

Doesn’t Gimenez have to actually hit to keep getting more starts than somebody out of options?

For July and August .130 .241 .217 .458 OPS

Gimenez only takes starts away from Marte every, what, third day?
They’re holding tryouts for next year. They’re going to play the youngsters as much as they can to see who pans out.
