Veras to join Tribe, Lewis optioned to Columbus

The Indians will add right-hander Jose Veras to their bullpen in advance of Saturday’s game against the Reds, and Jensen Lewis will be optioned to Triple-A Columbus.

The final straw for Lewis came Friday night, when Lewis retired the side in the eighth, only to walk the first two batters he faced in the ninth.

“He’s gotten a lot of experience in a short time,” Wedge said of Lewis. “He has the heartbeat and the guts. But he needs to be more consistent controlling the baseball. He needs to drive the ball down where he’s trying to throw it more consistently.”

One move that won’t be made Saturday is the one activating infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the disabled list, where he’s been since June 3 with a sprained left shoulder joint. The Tribe had hoped to make that move, but, after watching Cabrera participate in pregame activities Friday, the Indians decided to send him back to his rehab assignment at Double-A Akron for at least one more game.

Wedge said Cabrera still has some mild soreness in his shoulder, but the hope is to have him back after one more game with the Aeros.

Good moves, both. There’s no hurry for Cabrera to return and Lewis…well, what can you say?

So the AAA staff is better at getting players (Lewis, Perez) to make adjustments than the ML staff?

you and I have a much different interpretation of a final straw

Ha! Yeah, I suppose that was probably the -20th straw.
But I’m pretty sure AC, like most of us, predicted that Lewis would get sent down when Veras came aboard. The timing just underscored the move.

Well Cabrera is really great. Lewis might need to master his techniques to be compared to Cabrera. I just hope that Cabrera is just doing fine about his shoulder injury. Looking forward in more skillful and amazing techniques guy! Go! Anyway, in relation to sport issues, did you know the latest? In sport world the news of
Shaq traded to Cavs
is of special significance because that means that the basketball sensation of the least decade will be playing alongside LeBron James. He was traded from the Phoenix Suns, after spending time with the Miami Heat, and a previous stint famously playing alongside Kobe Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers under Phil Jackson. The trade included a draft pick, and also Shaq traded to Cavs for some fast cash, and its likely Shaq will never need personal loans as long as he lives.

blained, WTF? Who is LeBron James?

Why is Rafael Perez still on the roster? He is a gas can!!
Lewis despite all the negative press has always been an effective one inning pitcher and at most two. I think if you check his stats it shows he pitches well and then goes bad.
Wedge will all the bullpen problems they have had never gave him a chance after early season problems. He became the long reliever which has never been his thing.
