Infielder traded to the Mets
And no, it’s not Mark DeRosa.
It’s Wilson Valdez, the 31-year-old non-roster invitee to Spring Training camp this year who was the everyday shortstop at Triple-A Columbus. Valdez was sent to the Mets, who have multiple injuries in their infield, for a player to be named or cash. Valdez has been added to the Mets’ 40-man roster and is reportedly en route to Citi Field.

Does that mean Valbuena’s going back to Columbus, where he should be until they tade Derosa? Is there any market at all for Garko, Barfield, and Derosa?
Valbuena should be back in Columbus. He needs the consistent ABs. Barfield can ride the pine as well as Valbuena can… maybe even better considering Wedge won’t give him a start (ugh). Finding a significant trade market before June is like trying to find an intelligent, communicable Red Sox fan.
