5/15: Indians at Rays

Tonight’s 7:38 p.m. ET game at Tropicana Field will be broadcast on WTAM and STO. Once again, it’s Peralta at third, Cabrera at short and DeRosa at first, with Garko bumping Ben Francisco.

cle.gifINDIANS (14-22):
CF Grady Sizemore, SS Asdrubal Cabrera, C Victor Martinez, RF Shin-Soo Choo, 3B Jhonny Peralta, 1B Mark DeRosa, DH Ryan Garko, LF Matt LaPorta, 2B Jamey Carroll. RHP Anthony Reyes (1-1, 7.20).

tb.gifRAYS (16-20):
CF B.J. Upton, LF Carl Crawford, 3B Evan Longoria, 1B Carlos Pena, DH Willy Aybar, RF Gabe Gross, 2B Akinori Iwamura, SS Jason Bartlett, C Dioner Navarro. LHP Scott Kazmir (4-3, 5.92).

So…we’re going to play musical 2nd basemen from here on out?

. . . more like musical defense

I am surprised that Wedge put Jhonny back at third for the 2nd day in a row. I actually like this lineup, he has Garko in their, but i would rather have Luis at Second.

Platoon plain and simple, lefty pitcher, righties like Jamey and Ryan get their chance.

We are victim of the hype and often grasp for the golden ring on impulse, if not faith. From what I have seen, young LaPorta has the stuff of a star major leaguer, but it could be too soon. With each game, he will realize that he does belong here; he has as much as Ben Francisco has to offer, maybe more! And, Ben is not bad! You can play this game any way you want to, but you have to play to win. Offensively, we deserved a win; our pitching thought otherwise. Go tribe!

Stop this. Put DeRosa on 2nd and leave him there. This is a mess that’s being made messier by management. So now, when Victor plays first, what happens? Do we leave Valbuena or Carroll at 2nd and lose DeRosa’s bat, or move DeRosa to 2nd where he won’t have been playing? Or do we DH DeRosa and lose Garko, Choo, or Francisco at the plate? The answer is soooo simple. 1B- Garko, 2B, DeRosa, SS – Cabrera, 3B- Peralta, LF – LaPorta or Delucci (platoon, maybe?), CF – Grady, RF- Choo, C – Victor, DH- Shoppach. This is your everyday lineup. Then when Victor plays first, you DH Garko and catch Shoppach. Obviously, Pronk will DH when he heals up. Carroll can be the prime utility guy. Send Valbuena down the road, call up Barfield, quit fooling around with the infield, and start trying to find middle relief. (I hear Tony Graffanino’s available – maybe he can play first, too!!)
