Name your gun, son, shoot your shot
Getting a lot of e-mails from people wondering what’s going on with the player to be named from the CC Sabathia trade. Truth is, I’m past the point of knowing what the holdup is, but the player shall be named any day now, perhaps as soon as today.
The safe bet — while not 100 percent guaranteed — is that it will be outfielder Michael Brantley, who batted .319 with four homers, 17 doubles, two triples 28 stolen bases and 40 RBIs in 106 games at Double-A Huntsville this season. He missed some time with an ankle injury. Brantley would be an intriguing option for an organization devoid of speed.
It has been reported that the Indians get to choose the player because the Brewers made the playoffs. Had the Brewers not made it, they reportedly would have gotten to choose, and it’s believed that selection would have been third baseman Taylor Green, who was in Class A this year.
