Vic is back

Victor Martinez will be in tonight’s lineup against the Mariners. Andy Gonzalez has been designated for assignment to make room for Martinez on the active roster.

Martinez had been on the disabled list since June 12 and underwent surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow the following day. During his rehab assignment, he played in eight games at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Buffalo, batting .308 (8-for-26) with a homer and three RBIs.

Martinez is in the lineup at first base tonight.
