With a boulder on my shoulder, feeling kinda older…

Didn’t have a chance to throw this up here last night, but I’ve gotten several e-mails from people wondering why Hafner didn’t pinch-hit last night. The answer is right here.

Not really sure what to make of this shoulder injury and how much it’s affected Pronk this season, but I do know it’s been a lingering concern since the last week of Spring Training. He’s insisted several times this year that he’s as healthy as ever, but that shoulder is routinely wrapped in ice after games, and common sense tells you that a bum shoulder would affect your ability to drive the ball. I’m sure we’ll hear more about this at the park today.

When I read this my first though was Borowski and his Spring Training injury. The BrainTrust let him pitch/blow up for weeks before putting him on the DL.

I wonder how long they’ll let Pronk play through this before they realize he can’t hit in his present state.

I hope the news later today is that Hafner is on the DL. Shoulder or no shoulder, the man needs a break. He may never return to the Hafner of old, but they might as well give him two weeks off so he can rest the mind and shoulder, and then give him another shot. I suppose it might also be worth waiting until tomorrow to make the move, so that when Jake is activated, they could just put Pronk retroactively on the DL, and not have to make any other adjustments.

One of the writers who covers the Tribe suggested putting Hafner on the DL and then giving him a rehab stint in Buffalo to get his swing back.

That sounds like a good plan to me.

Ya gotta love any somg that uses the calliope
